How to use this hours to decimal calculator

- Enter hours and minutes (0–59), or a non-negative decimal.
- Read both the decimal and the HH:MM form.

Decimal hours = Hours + Minutes ÷ 6001
Divide the minutes by 60.

Add that fraction to the whole hours.

In the reverse direction, multiply the fractional hour by 60 and round to the nearest minute.

Clock to decimal
7:45 is 7 + 0.75 = 7.75 hours.
Decimal to clock
8.5 hours is 8 hours and 0.5 × 60 = 30 minutes, written 8:30.
When to use it

Limits
Assumptions and limits
- This page converts a duration, not a time of day on a clock face.
- Minutes must be between 0 and 59. Values such as 75 minutes are rejected instead of rolled into extra hours.
- Reverse conversion rounds to the nearest minute.
